Adam Jones Chef Spotlight
Adam Jones Is Top Chef at La Plancha.
La Plancha is a lifetime of delicious memories of Mexican and Colombian street fare, plus Dave Snyder’s mom’s homemade recipes—all brought to the table by the talented Chef Adam. Adam started his culinary career at age fifteen—learning the ropes at one of Jekyll Island’s favorite restaurants, Latitude. As a young adult, he moved to St. Simons to run the kitchen at Chelsea’s. An ad from Chef Dave in the local paper launched his next career move, and for the last thirteen years Adam has been a key part of the Halyards Restaurant Group family. “I’ve made a career with Chef Dave,” he says, “because around here, we take care of each other. Dave creates a great work environment that I’m proud to be a part of.”
Gaby Martinez is General Manager at LaPlancha.
Gaby grew up in Michigan but after visiting the Golden Isles, she decided she was here to stay. She was introduced to the restaurant business at the age of fourteen—and she’s never looked back. Before La Plancha, she worked for three years on Jekyll Island. A guest showed her an ad for La Plancha and encouraged her to apply—and the rest is history. She started at La Plancha as a bartender and now helps run the restaurant as assistant manager.
Gaby’s bubbly personality and attention to detail make her an invaluable asset to the team. “I love my Halyards Restaurant Group family. And I love being at La Plancha because it’s small and welcoming, and I can be personable with each guest. Working for Dave is great—he gives you the tools to succeed, and I am so grateful.” Gaby lives with her two children, two turtles—Bonnie and Clyde, and her dog, Murphy.
